On Palm Sunday, 8 April, folks gathered to draw winners for the annual charitable Easter Raffle at the Cultural Centre Prosvita in the city of Drohobych. The raffle is organized and held by Caritas Sambir-Drohobych Eparchy of the UGCC. Raffle tickets for this event were sold throughout Lent and the drawings were held on Palm Sunday.

Over 9,000 raffle tickets were sold at educational establishments, businesses and parishes of the Sambir-Drohobych Eparchy. “Thanks to the support of our media sponsors, volunteers and Caritas staff, this raffle increases in popularity each year,’ notes Fr. Ihor Kozankevych, Director of the Sambir-Drohobych Caritas.

Prizes included 15 trips to summer camps in Poland, mobile telephones, a computer, flash drives, web-cameras and more. The prizes were donated or purchased thanks to donations made by locals who we sincerely thank. The entire list of prizes can be viewed here: http://caritas-sde.org/.

All funds raised during the raffle will be used to maintain the Amazing Hands Centre for Recreation for the Disabled. Currently the Centre serves 20 children. The centre focuses on developing talents in their disabled clients, encouraging them to be creative, to socialize and be physically active.

Clients of Amazing Hands can participate in the following workshops: painting, applique, making necklaces, bead work, weaving, clay, making artificial flowers, etc. A lot of attention is paid to their physical development; they go on excursions, visit museums and various events.

“Thank you to everyone to participated in the raffle! May God bless you and your families with all His graces,” said Fr. Ihor.
