At the beginning of October a seminar was held for representatives of charitable and community organizations which provide social services to vulnerable segments of society at the Ministry of Social Policy’s Centre for Advanced Social Research and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The topic of the seminar was how to coordinate and ensure professionalism and quality in the social services offered by nongovernmental organizations (NGOs).

During the seminar they stressed that reforming social services is an important component of modern social policy in Ukraine and is becoming an increasingly popular concern for international donors causing increased interest among scientific, civic and charitable organizations. Ministry of Social Policy receives contradictory proposals from various sources.

For its part, the Ministry tries to involve NGO representatives in developing proposals but this does not ensure that the proposals are implementable.
