For the second year in a row children from Kolomyya Caritas have hiked the Carpathian Mountains. During these hikes they improve their endurance, develop a sense of camaraderie and learn to help one another.

Last year children hiked the foothills of the Khom’yak Mountain (in the south-eastern corner of the Gorgany in the Nadvirnyans’kyy district of the Ivano-Frankivs’k region). Unforeseen situations prevented them from hiking to the peak so this year they decided to try again but instead of Khom’yak the tackled Hoverla (2061 metres), the highest peak in the Ukrainian Carpathians.

Knapsacks loaded with necessary equipment, clothing and groceries each weighed over 10 kilograms.
