Fr. Sergiy Tryfyak, Director of Caritas of the Kolomyia-Chernivtsi Eparchy, returned from Kyiv with a victorious statuette of angel and with diploma that proves the victory of Caritas Kolomyia in ‘Charitable Ukraine-2012’ contest in nomination ‘Philanthropist – regional charitable foundation’.
Organizers of national contest ‘Charitable Ukraine-2012’ are convinced that development of philanthropy in Ukraine is an important factor for growth of the Ukrainian society in general. Philanthropists’ Association of Ukraine initiated this contest in order to mark the best philanthropists ahe most efficient charitable initiatives in Ukraine. It is aimed to promote charity as an example of successful cooperation with community and an effective way of solving hot-button society issues.
Earlier, in 2008 and 2009, the work of Caritas Ukraine was marked as excellent among other charitable and civic organizations in the country. In fact, Caritas Ukraine became a winner in the National contest ‘Philanthropist of the year-2008’ in nomination ‘Representation of an international charitable foundation or non-governmental organization’. That time in a very outstanding way were marked multifaceted and far-reaching work of Caritas Ukraine, its openness for every person in need. In 2009 there was a victory in the national contest of charitable organizations of Ukraine in nomination ‘Charitable organization’. In addition, in 2007 Sheptytsky Hospital that operates on the basis of Caritas Ukraine in Lviv received a victorious statuette and title ‘Philanthropist of the year’.
During the recent years Caritas of the Kolomyia-Chernivtsi Eparchy implemented many social projects and regularly organized large-scale charity campaigns. Caritas Kolomyia has recommended itself as a reliable friend for all people who found themselves in crisis circumstances. Such an active work and social position wasn’t left without attention of contest organizers.
However, determination and announcement of Charitable Ukraine-2012 winners was held in Kyiv in the Ukrainian House on March, 14. Fr. Sergiy Tryfyak admitted that this victory in the national contest was pleasant and unexpected.
“Our victory resulted from hard every day work of Caritas employees, our volunteers and partners. To a great extent it happened due to contribution of people who trust and help Caritas, favor its activities in different ways. Such honors are rather significant and they show that Caritas is moving in the right direction,” said Director of Caritas Kolomyia at the award ceremony.
