Oksana Hirchak, for Caritas Ukraine
Minorities exist in every society in all times. These are people with less common religious persuasions, representatives of other nationalities, people with different skin color, poverty stricken individuals and people with disabilities. Society attitude to such people displays, on the one hand, cultural and civilizational development, on the other hand, economic and social conditions of the system.
Someone feels indifferent to people with disabilities, others despise them and don’t count for full-bodied part of society. But there are also people that every day go to social center, where they take care of disabled individuals. In current Ukrainian landscape challenged people face many problems: right for education and labor, relevant medical care and social security, absence of specific equipment in public places, but especially – community imprint.
