Some days ago special celebration for Caritas Kyiv clients was organized. The event was held in “Igroland” of shopping and leisure center Sky Moll. Almost 40 children aged 5-12 years from large, low-income families, half-orphans and orphans under guidance of local Caritas stuff participated in the celebration.
Fr. Roman Syrotych, Caritas Kyiv Director, retells: “The holiday program was varied, interesting, and full of surprises. New Year and Christmas performance with fairy heroes excited children, because children are familiar with these characters from fairy-tales and cartoons. Kids also enjoyed competition and games where they took part. After the holiday program everyone was treated with pizza, fruits, cookies and sweets on the festive table. At the end, kids played to heart’s content in Igroland labyrinths and attractions for children.”
Assistance to crisis children foresees favouring of their reintegration in society – here, education, social services and nutrition are secured for hundreds of children. Local Caritas renders aid to needful children for them to find perspectives in their lives; develop positive traits and get a decent job. If needed food is delivered to street children and youth; clothes, hygiene means and healthcare products are provided. These children and youth have possibilities to visit Caritas social centre for hygiene and hydrotherapeutic procedures, or use services of hairdresser or seamstress.
Fr. Roman states that children from low-income, single-parent, large and disadvantaged families are considered as the most crisis category of Caritas clients, they need particular help and support to change living circumstances, worldview, often, character features and skills to avoid different life challenges. Employees of Caritas Kyiv think that the number of children and youth who belong to this category is increasing and it is very dangerous; and it is a significant point to unite efforts of philanthropists, state, business and churches to overcome problems of this population category.
At the end of the holiday in “Igroland” children – Caritas clients – received multicolored gel balloons which they carried back home with festive mood and joy. That day every child felt his/her importance and happiness from the time that was spent. Caritas Kyiv expresses sincere gratitude to Savytska Valentyna Volodymyrivna, head of “Igroland” in shopping and leisure center Sky Moll, holiday for children became possible with her help.
“We are grateful to our friends from “Velvet Hearts” foundation – Oleksandra Balyasna, Anna Mozgova, Anna Kuznetsova and Olena Titilkina. They made great contribution in organization of the holiday and always have sincere enthusiasm in cooperation with us. We thank Olena very much, because she rejoiced and celebrated together with children, strived to make the holiday even better.” Fr. Roman Syrotych finishes his story about holiday for crisis children.
