A friendly football match was held between disabled youths from Caritas Ivano-Frankivs’k and Caritas Aachen (Germany). It ended in a 3:3 tie; friendship prevailed.
For many years Caritas branches in different regions of Ukraine have cared for people with special needs. These branches focus on teaching practical and social skills, organizing summer camps, excursions and festivals, interacting with other organizations that serve this population and changing society’s attitude towards the disabled. They encourage the parents of their clients to be actively involved in the activities held at their centres, at joint events and at seminars and offer them psychological counselling and information.
The young Germans who came to Ukraine to cheer on their national team are professional football players, they have won quit a few tournaments organized by Caritas Germany.
