Caritas Ukraine won “Charitable Ukraine-2017” competition

On March 22, 2018, the award ceremony for winners of National competition “Charitable Ukraine-2017” took place in the Column Hall of Kyiv City State Administration.

Participants of “Charitable Ukraine-2017″ competition  are business, public, volunteer, charitable organizations and communities, private individuals, children and youth associations, educational institutions, clubs, associations of citizens and mass media from all parts of Ukraine and the world.

This year, the winners were chosen at a state level in 21 nominations, which were divided into 15 main, 3 individual and 2 special. The biggest number of applications was filed for the youth and children charity nomination – 149 applications, the charity in social sphere nomination – 136 applications and the charity event nomination – 122 applications.

The ceremony was hosted by the President of Ukrainian Philanthropists Association, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Ceremony, Oleksandr Maksymchuk, and Anzhelika Rudnytska, a singer, artist, journalist, volunteer, public figure.

“I am very happy that more and more benefactors from all regions in Ukraine are taking part in our completion year after year, presenting creative projects. I am very glad to see young people among the participants. The only thing which can save Ukraine is people who think not solely about themselves, but also about their neighbours, society and the country”, commented Kateryna Yuschenko, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of International Charity Fund “Ukraine 3000”.

We are very proud that this year Caritas Ukraine was awarded in nomination “Charity in social sphere”. It proves that the society notices and highly appreciates fund’s activities aimed at social protection and security, fighting poverty, care and support.

While receiving the award, President of Caritas Ukraine, Andriy Vaskovych admitted that we as a society should do our best to ensure that each person receives the aid, which belongs to them. “We must understand that charity can neither substitute the state, nor its social sphere. As benefactors we must work together with the state to provide people with all necessary and make their life good. Charity has two serve two functions: directly provide assistance to people who need it and struggle for a fair society to overcome poverty”, added he.

The Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Oleksandra Churkina, presented the amber “Angel of kindness” to the nomination winner.

“Many thanks to organizers of the competition who continue choosing best among the best year after year. In my opinion, a person who does a good thing and sometimes cares little bit more than the state, which is to care, is very important. We had a wonderful event today. By the way, as a person who has known Caritas activities for many years from different places of employment, I was very happy to see the foundation among the nominees. It is marvellous that we can meet after the competition and communicate, as new ideas and joint projects come up during such discussion. The charity movement continues to spread, and it is exactly what we need’, commented Oleksandra Churkina.

It is worth mentioning that Caritas Kharkiv took a third place in nomination “Regional charity”. Regional rounds of the national completion were also held. Caritas Kyiv won the regional competition “Charitable Kyiv region-2017” in nomination “Charity in social sphere”. At the same time, Caritas Odesa acted as organizers of the reginal competition “Charitable Ukraine – 2017”.

Reference: National competition “Charitable Ukraine” is an annual nationwide competition founded by All-Ukrainian Charitable Organization “Association of Charities of Ukraine” to facilitate efficient socially-oriented charity, patronage and volunteer services in Ukraine by public encouragement of best benefactors, philanthropist and volunteers, their organizations and practices. The competition traces back to 2007, it has been held in “Charitable Ukraine” format since 2012.
