These days tenth anniversary “Christmas candle” came to an end. Organizers pointed out that the scope of candles distribution increased, as well as the level of fundraising in order to provide assistance for children and youth who face crisis circumstances. Moreover, greater level of public awareness on goals and main ideas of the initiative was achieved.
“This charity initiative is an opportunity for every not even wealthy Ukrainian to make contribution in care of children that are in need,” thinks Anatoliy Kozak, Secretary General of Caritas Ukraine.
In the frames of “Christmas candle” disadvantaged youth participate in creating of special Christmas candles that are later distributed throughout Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church communities, corporate donors and private philanthropists. This year initiative attracted benefactors from Canada. In total nearly 150 thousand candles were distributed.
