Caritas Khmelnytskyi celebrates its 15th anniversary


On June 16, 2017, the celebration to mark the 15th anniversary of the Regional Charitable Foundation Caritas Khmelnytskyi took place. It started with the solemn Pontifical Divine Liturgy headed by Vasyl (Semeniuk), the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Ternopil-Zboriv Archidiocese, and the administrator of the Kamianets-Podilskyi Eparchy.

After the Liturgy, the Social center for children and youth with special needs was consecrated and officially opened. The center was established in a building constructed near the church on money donated by parishioners with support of the Board of Trustees that supervises and provides financial support to the center.

After the consecration, all participants were invited to enjoy the buffet.  Well-doers and donors received awards and certificates of appreciation. Director of Caritas regional centers, Caritas Ukraine General Director, Andriy Vaskovych, and the mayor of Khmelnytskyi, Oleksandr Symchyshyn, also attended the event.

The celebration continued with the concert in Khmelnytskyi Regional Philharmonic. It started with the film about achievements of Caritas Khmelnytskyi over the last 15 years. Various artists took part in the concert, including: Khmelnytskyi Municipal Chamber Choir, “Mix» male vocal quintet, “Ladovytsi” folk group and “Pysanka” duet.


The Regional Charitable Foundation Caritas Khmelnytskyi was founded in 2002 under the auspices of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. According to its Charter, the foundation through its activity provides assistance to all in need regardless of their religion, nationality, political beliefs and race.

At present, Caritas Khmelnytskyi carries out the following projects:

Mobile work with youth in Ukraine;

St. Nicolas Center for children and young people with cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome from Khmelnytskyi and Khmelnytskyi region. There are rooms of physical rehabilitation, art therapy, massage, sensor and salt therapy rooms, offices of speech specialists, psychologists, etc.

  • Social taxi;
  • IDPs support;
  • Social initiative “Someone will not do it”;
  • Candle workshop;
  • Provision of humanitarian aid;
  • Christian development school;

Such range of Caritas Khmelnytskyi multilateral activities encompasses several hundreds of people and provides them with initial material and social assistance, psychological and emotional support, promotes their integration in the society and gives the hope for a better future.
