Caritas in Ternopil handed over equipment for resuscitation department to city emergency care hospital

Ternopil city communal emergency care hospital received modern medical equipment for the value of 143,265 UAH. It became possible by means of a project that is implemented by Caritas Ternopil to support victims of recent mass protests in Ukraine.

Equipment was bought for financial means of Czech Republic authorities, and medical establishment of Ternopil got help with the assistance of local Caritas director Fr. Andriy Marchuk and Consul General of Czech Republic in Lviv Myroslav Klim. Vasyliy Semenyuk, archbishop and Metropolitan of Ternopilsko-Zborivska Ukrainian Greek and Catholic Church,  consecrated new equipment.



Presented equipment is destined for patients in resuscitation department. Equipment includes a double-channel oxygen concentrator, patient’s observation monitor, an electrocardiograph and surgical instruments. Sergiy Nadal, City Head, thanked Caritas Ternopil and Consul General of Czech Republic for such present and noticed that this equipment will considerably improve medical treatment of citizens, at the same time it is an essential manifestation of cooperation and support of people of a good will from Czech Republic.

In his turn, Consul General of Czech Republic in Lviv Myroslav Klim noted: “This present is a kind of gratitude to Ternopil emergency care hospital for assistance to victims during Revolution of Dignity. Government of Czech Republic provided material aid to purchase equipment for medical establishments in Ukraine and Ternopil did its part. We are paying court to you and wish your nation prosperity, strength of mind and immense blessings of God.”

Local Caritas was founded in 1994 with activity of charitable refectory and humanitarian aid for needful individuals in form of clothes, shoes and food products. Nowadays work of Caritas Ternopil is focused at securing social services, counselling, educating and information activities for people who found themselves in crisis life conditions.

At the moment the following projects and initiatives are being implemented:
•    “Home Care” Medical and social center
•    “Home Care” Information and counseling center
•    Mobile work with youth
•    Charitable refectory
•    School of happy motherhood
•    Art-studio for children from crisis families (making of decorated candles, icons, drawing, painting on glass, pottery)
•    Summer camps for children and youth
•    Sports department for children and youth
•    Charity campaigns
